MasterCard SecureCode and Verified by Visa – Additional online security

Why am I being asked for a Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode password?

In order to make online credit card payment more secure, Visa and MasterCard have introduced an additional online check to enhance your security and reduce the likelihood of fraud.

If you have previously registered your card with either of these schemes, you will be required to enter your password (or digits from it) to complete your order.

If you have not previously registered your card, your card issuer may require you to register before allowing you to complete your order.

How do I find my Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode password?

You are responsible for registering your credit card in the Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode schemes with you card issuer. If you have previously registered your card in either of these schemes then you will have chosen your own password at the time you registered.

If you have forgotten your password or you are being asked for a password but you don't remember registering your card, please contact your card issuer for assistance. Travelex are not able to advise you of your password, and we cannot tell whether or not your card is registered.

Is this password essential for me to place an order?

If you have previously registered your card with either of the Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode schemes, you will not be able to complete your order unless you enter the correct password or the requested digits from the correct password.

If you have not previously registered your card with one of the schemes, then it is at the discretion of your card issuer whether or not to request that you register your card to be able to complete your order.

The Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode schemes are designed to make online shopping safer by making it more difficult for fraudsters to use stolen credit card details. For more information, or to register your card with your issuer, please click on one of these links:
