The official currency in Finland is the euro - replacing the Finnish markka as Finland’s official currency in February 2002 after initially being introduced in cash form a month earlier in January 2002.



The Finnish markka was circulated in Finland between 1860 and 2002.



Finland joined the European Union in 1995 and the Eurozone in 1999 when it was initially formed.



The most commonly used bills for the euro are the 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 notes.
