The official currency in South Korea is the won; which is issued by The Bank of Korea. 1 Won is divided into 100 jeon; although the jeon is no longer used for regular transactions.

The won in its current form has been used in South Korea since 1962, and officially replaced the previously-used hwan in 1975.

The ‘won’ has been used throughout several periods of Korean history, with the ‘old won’ referring to a cognate of the Japanese yen and Chinese yuan used in Korea prior to 1910.

Overall great experience.

The website is very easy to navigate and online ordering was really easy. I had to change my pick up date and a simple email request was met with a quick response to accommodate my change. Pick up was also really quick and easy and the representative was very friendly. Overall, a great experience.

Highly recommend

Very easy to order online and pay via BPay to avoid credit card fees. Pick up at OOL airport was good, be aware the pickup counter is located through the screening gate in the domestic department area. There’s another counter in the check in area but this is not we’re you collect online orders.

Kylie Hunt

Sent too soon.

Worked well except for the currency being sent several days before the requested date, which meant I was not home to receive it, which meant a trip to the post office some Km away to collect it. That said, I would probably use the service again as the rates are better than the banks, etc.

the transaction was quick and easy

the transaction was quick and easy, love being able to buy online and pick up in store. it would be a 5 star except that I could not choose the denominations of currency and ended up with too many small notes of one currency and large notes for the other.

Ordering my USD online.

I ordered my money online and then received a friendly phone call to be told my money had arrived and was ready to be collected, earlier than expected which was really helpful. On arrival to collect I was greeted with a smile and the lady behind the counter could not have been more helpful and even offered extra advice and information that was much appreciated. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Travelex again.

Quick and simple

An easy and hassle free order to place and collect.

Chelle Peters

Transaction went smoothly

Transaction went smoothly. I was able to pick up the currency from my local post office. Some mix up with the payment of $10 pick up fee from Australia Post, which I thought was payable at the time and point of collection. Travelex appear to have been competitive. Overall, I have no reason to not recommend this company.

Too Easy
